Join a European Leader in Corporate Finance
For over 20 years, Fibus has supported businesses, finance departments and investment funds in financing and protecting their trade receivables.
A European leader in factoring brokerage and a major player in credit insurance brokerage, we operate in more than 40 countries, working with businesses of all sizes, from SMEs to large international groups.
Through Fibus Digital, we develop SaaS software used by hundreds of businesses to manage their factoring and credit insurance programmes.
The Team and the Challenge
The Fibus Digital R&D team consists of five developers, a Product Manager and the Head of Engineering, working in a continuous flow environment using Kanban. The team is responsible for the entire product lifecycle: design, development, testing, production monitoring and ongoing operational support.
Team members take on a broad range of responsibilities, with a direct individual impact.
The main product under development is a B2B SaaS platform for managing factoring programmes. This is a demanding financial domain in which processing accuracy is critical: a calculation error could jeopardise a client’s financing.
The platform runs on a managed PaaS within an ISO 27001-certified Information Security Management System (ISMS).
The product is a web-based SaaS redevelopment of a legacy desktop application, with the first users onboarded in May 2026.
The Role
Strengthen the team to accelerate the development of high-value features and achieve full functional parity with the legacy desktop application.
Key Skills for Success
Technical Skills
- Strong, transferable fundamentals: a statically typed back-end language, SQL, a modern front-end framework, and a solid understanding of web architectures.
- DevOps experience: CI/CD, Docker and PaaS.
- High engineering standards: automated testing, code reviews and security built in from the outset.
- Judicious use of AI-assisted development tools: working faster without delegating judgement or responsibility for quality.
- Desirable:
- Familiarity with Fibus’s current technology stack (Node.js, Next.js and PostgreSQL).
- Experience managing a live production product, including monitoring, logs, alerts, load monitoring and incident management.
Business and Domain Skills
- The ability to understand and translate complex, regulated business rules into code, with a strong focus on accuracy and formalisation.
- Desirable: knowledge of accounting and/or factoring. If not, a genuine willingness to develop expertise in the field is essential.
Interpersonal Skills and Ways of Working
- Customer focus – Technology is a means to an end, not an end in itself. We build to deliver value to customers. Technology should be chosen for the value it creates, not for its sophistication or novelty.
- Ownership – Start with a business need, determine what needs to be built, and take the solution through to completion.
- Critical thinking and sound judgement – Challenge requirements, justify technical decisions and avoid overengineering.
- Knowledge sharing and mentoring – Explain, support and help less experienced colleagues develop their skills. Building a product is a team effort.
- Bridging technology and business – Build buy-in for technical decisions by explaining their implications clearly and adapting communication to the audience.
- Written decision-making – Document decisions in writing (ADRs, post-mortems) to keep the team aligned.
- Professional proficiency in English.
Who are we looking for?
Someone whose experience already demonstrates the ability to:
- Make decisions based on the value delivered to customers and users rather than technology for its own sake, staying close to real-world needs.
- Take ownership of complex features from end to end, from design through to production, rather than simply implementing predefined tasks.
- Design and evolve an architecture or technical conventions within a real-world production environment.
- Challenge or refine specifications when requirements are unclear, working directly with a Product Manager and/or designer.
- Support and mentor less experienced developers.
- Work in a complex or regulated domain, or demonstrate the ability to quickly master a demanding business area.
In terms of personal qualities, we value autonomy, reliability, teamwork, a strong sense of responsibility, and a commitment to finding simple, well-crafted and useful solutions.
Your Roadmap
- After 3 months – Working independently with the codebase and the team’s workflow; delivering initial features autonomously; developing a sound understanding of factoring.
- After 6 months – Taking ownership of high-impact areas, from specification through to production monitoring; becoming the go-to person for a defined area; actively contributing to code reviews and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
- After 1 year – Leading cross-functional or architectural initiatives; improving the team’s engineering practices; being ready to take on a Technical Lead role on a project (a team responsibility, not a separate career grade).
